Ghosts of Bonnaroos past

I’ve attended Bonnaroo two out of the last five years, but baby-having has kept me from going lately (including this year; it’s this week). Next year, though, I’m definitely going back. I think my sister and I will make it a grrl-bonding, sans-kids expedition. It will be great. But I need to find some media outlet who wants me to cover the event for them (WBIR sent me the two years I went, which was fantastic). I’ll have to start working on that.
Anyway, here are my photos from Bonnaroo 2006 and 2005. A good time was had by all. I loved the whole Bonnaroo experience (that’s really what it is; it’s way more than just camping and watching a bunch of shows), and I really can’t wait to do it again. And if you get a chance to go, by all means do it.

We’re going. We are so incredibly excited. We can only go for Saturday and Sunday though. We’re pretty bummed about that, but it’s for a very special reason (it’d have to be). It’s so hard explaining the Bonnaroo experience to people who haven’t been yet. But yes, it’s so much more than a bunch of people camping and watching music.

Oh Catherine! I didn’t know y’all were going! I am so jealous. Is B’s foot well enough to handle the walking?
Yep, it’s really hard to explain it if you don’t experience it for yourself – even the “challenging” parts, like when bad weather blows in, or your exhaustion hits hard about 4pm each day. Jon says he doesn’t think he would enjoy it at all, so next year Betsy and I are going to do it.
I even hate camping – HATE it – but I love Bonnaroo.
What show are you most excited about? I’d love to see Springsteen and the Beastie Boys, for starters.

We’re so excited about Springsteen and we saw him last month!!! I’m just really excited about it all. I love camping and I love music festivals, so this is heaven for me. It is pretty greuling around midday but with us only going for two days I don’t think it will be bad.
As for his foot, we’re a little worried but we’ve been doing a lot of walking in preparation for it. I had hoped to get a guest pass to help out with the distance we’ll have to walk, but haven’t heard back from AC. He’s a trooper and doesn’t want to miss anything so we’re going for it!
