Michael Jackson’s parents: child abuse redux?

I am a bit baffled why Michael Jackson would spend his entire life telling us that his father was an abusive ass, aided and abetted by his mother, who never did anything substantive to stop the child abuse, but then name his parents as his own children’s guardians in his will.
I hope someone in the California child welfare system will take a closer look at this.
ON A RELATED NOTE: My later-in-life Michael Jackson appreciation.

His mother was awarded guardianship of his children, according to the NY Times article his mother and father no longer live together his father lives in Las Vegas at an unknown address, the mom resides in Calif.

Yeah, Dewi, but his parents ARE still legally married. And his father is the one speaking on behalf of the family. So leaving the kids to his mother really means leaving them to his parents. And as I said, she might not have beaten him as the father did, but she let the guy do the apparently horrific things he did to all of her children. That’s abuse, too.

Maybe he didn’t actually expect to die. Maybe (for sure) all the drugs made him pretty illogical.

Reports are now surfacing that Debbie Rowe, his former wife will be filing for an order of protection to keep Joe Jackson away from the kids.

I think the nanny should be given custody… they have spent the majority of their time with her, and reportedly call her ‘mom’.

The Jackson Family is a business. They must have a financial agreement relegating Joe to be head of the business. He and his wife live in different states. They live separately. How is leaving the children to his mother the same as leaving them to Joe? Michael obviously knew the family dynamic when he excluded his father from his his will.

I agree with Diane – no reason to assume the father is going to be involved. In fact, we really know nothing about this family – or any celebrity family – though we like to think we do, don’t we?

I don’t agree with you Toby. We actually do know a lot about this family, because they have told us. Several of the Jackson adult children have spoken extensively in many interviews about the severe physical and emotional abuse from their father. Also, the father Joe Jackson has confirmed in interviews that he beat his children. Joe Jackson has been all over the news since MJ’s death, acting as the spokesperson for the whole family, and he and his wife are not divorced. It’s reasonable to assume he will have contact with and influence over these kids as the continuing patriarch. Plus Mrs. Jackson bears significant responsibility for the abuse, as she allowed it to happen over many years to all of her children.
