The Knoxville Social Media Association (of which I am a member) is proud to join Social Media Club of Knoxville and Knoxville Overground in co-sponsoring this year’s Knoxville Twestival.
What is Knoxville Twestival? Well, it’s part of a charitable event taking place in communities all around the world. Twestival uses the power of the local Twitterverse to encourage community members to come out in person to a fun event to be held in Knoxville on September 10, 2009, and to donate money to a designated local charity.

What will that Knoxville charity be? Well that’s up to you and your own online community to help decide!
Knoxville-area, non-profit organizations: Fill out the online form to tell us why your charity should be chosen as the designated charity for this year’s Knoxville Twestival. All entries received by Friday, August 7 (at 11:59pm) will be published on the Knoxville Twestival blog, where readers will be able to vote for their favorite charity. On August 14, Twestival organizers will choose one winner among the top three vote-getters.
As soon as the winning charity is announced, our Twitter-powered fundraising will begin on that organization’s behalf, culminating in the September 10 Knoxville Twestival event (location to be announced).
One-hundred percent of all ticket sales and donated funds will be given directly to the selected charity. Once the designated charity is announced, donations can be made via ticket sales to the event, via the link that will go live on the Knoxville Twestival site, or via direct donation at the September 10 Twestival event.
Please help spread the word about this GREAT opportunity for some lucky Knoxville charity. You can follow Knoxville Twestival on Twitter: @knoxtwestival, or become a fan of Knoxville Twestival on Facebook.

HERE’S HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED WITH KNOXVILLE TWESTIVAL
Here’s how you can help:
1-Submit your favorite local charity for consideration as the 2009 Knoxville Twestival fundraising beneficiary.
3-Share the Knoxville Twestival link with all your friends on Twitter, Flickr, Facebook, Linked In, message boards, your email address book or wherever else you hang out online. Add a link to your blog.
4-Continue encouraging your friends to visit the Twestival site to vote for your charity throughout the Twestival voting period.
5-If you are a member of the media or a blogger, please consider doing a story on Knoxville Twestival NOW to help get the word out to local charities and their supporters about this terrific, very time-limited opportunity. Email KSMA at KnoxSocialMedia@gmail.com for info, or to set up an interview with Twestival organizers.
6-Become a featured sponsor for our September 10 Twestival event, currently being planned. If you play in a band that would like to perform, own a venue you would like to offer for the Twestival event, or you run a business (restaurant, catering, beverage service, etc) that feeds people, we want to hear from you! This is a great opportunity for your brand or business to gain valuable exposure to the Knoxville social media community, and to receive both traditional and viral promotion via Twestival social networking. Direct donations for sponsorship are also welcomed. Email KSMA at KnoxSocialMedia@gmail.com to learn more about becoming a sponsor for Knoxville Twestival.
Thanks, and spread the word on Knoxville Twestival!

This is a great idea. Off to check whether there is a Twestival event planned here in Austin. I assume there probably is (since we are talking about Austin!)
