Odds and ends Tuesday

-After enjoying my first honest to goodness day off in eternity yesterday, for Labor Day, I must admit to finding it super hard to get back into work-mode today.
-Like many of my mammal brethren, I hibernate in the winter. Even though we have not yet had our first frost, I find my sleep habits changing. I crave afternoon naps and can’t wait to get to sleep at night – by 9 pm. This is a huge switch from my summertime biorythm (sp?) of go-go-go all the time.
-How is it that 11 year old E can be so disorganized and messy in some ways, and yet literally beg to sort laundry? He LOVES sorting clean laundry. I guess that’s kinda like how much I actually enjoy – like, in a “this is so fun I should be wearing a party hat and sipping a cocktail” kind of way – vacuuming with my new bagless vacuum cleaner. My beloved, much abused Miele canister vac finally gave up the ghost, and so Dr. Neighbor went with me and helped me pick out a new upright Bissel with a clear plastic thingie instead of a bag. So now I can actually SEE all the dirt and doghair as it gets sucked up. As a result, I find myself daydreaming of vacuuming at odd times, like when am in meetings with important grown-ups who probably have “people” who do all their vacuuming for them. (They would do their vacuuming themselves, though, if they had any idea how fun it is.)
-I realized today while picking up a prescription that not only does my ‘hood have the Fellini Kroger, but we also have the Diane Arbus Walgreen’s. Location, location, location!

that’s so funny. I am completely disorganized but I love to sort laundry too. I think its because I don’t have the attention span to do a big organizing job, but I can organize heck outa my laundry basket.

It’s funny you are feeling the winter hibernation coming on; my friends and I have been “suggesting” that winter is coming early this year. Our horses are shedding their summer coats like mad too, looks like we may have an early frost this year.

I hate bagless — I’m also on my first one. How in the world do you contain all the nasty when it’s time to empty it (which, for me, is every 5 minutes)? Even if the kitchen trash is almost empty, a big cloud of dust, dirt, and dog hair billows up and out of the trash. Then I gotta sweep the kitchen floor to get that up.
Maybe I should be cleaning more often . . . ?
