It's actually pretty easy to make your own--we did it once. I bet the problem is with the "glue" icing in the kit. I can't remember what they call the homemade kind--royal something or other I think--but it dried like cement. It took serious destructive force to demolish the house when they all decided they wanted to eat it!

Yeah, I've made them before. I think it was even that same brand. They never turn out well. Usually I can't get the four sides to stay stuck together long enough to actually set. Then when you stick the roof on the whole mess collapses. AND the frosting tastes like glue (maybe it IS actually glue???) and the candy is usually stale. Might I add that I love baking and crafts of all kinds??? There's just something wrong with these kits. I did see an idea in some magazine for flat cutouts of gingerbread houses that one decorates in the same manner as a 3-D one and props up against something. If one was so moved as to desire to create a gingerbread house, this seems like it would be the way to go. Less chance of architectural disaster.
and see I left you a comment HERE instead of on facebook!!!
