Another email question I have gotten a lot in the last week concerns the status of the criminal investigation into the circumstances of Henry’s death. I really appreciate (REALLY appreciate) the ongoing interest in this. Thank you to everyone who has asked.
I can’t comment on the investigation right now beyond saying that we have been assured that it is underway, and that we are grateful for the hard work of those doing the investigation. That’s really all I can say for now.
If you have any information relevant to the investigation into my son’s death, I ask that you please contact the major crimes unit of the Knox County Sheriff’s Office or our attorney, Don Bosch.
Many thanks -
Katie

Good. I was wondering what was happening and didn’t get to read your post about what you were planning to do next before the mishap that made it disappear. Thanks for the update. I dreamt about you last night – dreamt that this was all a mistake, a horrible nightmare that couldn’t possibly be true… Thinking of you every day.
I just look at that photo and want to cry. I’m so glad to hear that just because we’re not hearing anything about the investigation doesn’t mean it’s not happening. They need to get those people off the streets. Knoxville is better than this.
I’m so grateful that it’s being done and we’ll know what happened and who was involved. I sincerely hope and believe that the outcome will be the arrest of anyone who committed a crime. If they succeed in contributing to Henry’s death without consequence, others may be hurt too. No other family should have to suffer such a living hell.
Just thinking of you today.
Blessings
Thanks for updating us. It’s good to know that something is happening.
At the very least, we want to know the identity of those who have been questioned in connection with the investigation. If nothing becomes of it, the community at least deserves to know who they are so we can take the necessary precautions.
I am glad to see that you updated about the investigation and that it is still underway. I hope that they do everything possible to find the answers as to who could to this to such a beautiful young man.
Thinking of you and your family – thoughts and prayers to all of you. G-d bless you.
Odd to feel myself typing this, but “good.” (i.e. how is it actually GOOD that your son’s death is being investigated??)
I have been wanting to ask this EVERY DAY, but we had decided within our walls that maybe you had been advised not to blog about this while a concerted effort is made to have a real investigation. Glad this seems to be the case.
I am most concerned about YOU getting some substantive answers and justice FIRST, then the rest of the community getting more information than “case closed” with no explanation. I believe it would be in the best interest of the responsible authorities to come out with some kind of update — as much of a status as they can give — sooner rather than later, as many of us are watching closely and do not intend to let this pass without comment.
Hang in there, Katie. You are DUE some answers so you and your family can someday, somehow heal.
I can’t imagine that the Dept. would risk the publicity NIGHTMARE by dropping the ball on this.
It is my sincere hope that the local law enforcement is investigating this case to the fullest extent possible. Loosing Henry has been devastating to all of us. I can’t imagine having to be the officer who has to tell another parent that they have lost their child because these individuals where not arrested and incarcerated.
I know that when it isn’t your family or friend, it is easy to lose that feeling of urgency. I also know when you see these types of crimes everyday it is easy to become desensitized to the problem. I know several of the folks on the force and believe them to be hard working, honest individuals. Its the bureaucracy that I fear will put this case aside as unimportant.
If someone out there is reading, who has some say in this investigation, please, PLEASE help us to incarcerate these individuals who perpetrated this crime against, not only Henry, but his entire family. I pray that other young adults do not fall prey to these people before you are able to make our community safer without their presence.
I’m sure that they will do their best to try to prosecute these people because there is just-cause. I’m confident that they will do an outstanding job. There is no other option…especially if this were their child. We are all hopefully living to understand more so then to be understood, then acting accordingly…. (including our law enforcement.)
The Knoxville community and our surrounding communities would be in an uproar if they knew the details we know and found out they didn’t prosecute. They know we won’t let this fall off the way-side.
They’ll do their job.
We’ll let the courts decide.
And we’ll move on with our lives…
(Early Sunday morning Chris went on a bike ride through our neighborhood. He said that he rode beside Mayor Haslam for a little bit….Mayor Haslam told Chris he was sorry to hear about Henry. The Mayor is aware just as everyone else is.)
They will do their job and they will do it extremely well.
I am glad to hear that they are working on this case, too. I check in often to see what progress there is in the case, and am frequently asked by friends and neighbors what is going on with the investigation and with your family. Your family is very loved and cherished, and certainly not only in your own hometown. I am very hopeful that justice will be served, sooner rather than later.
I’m so sorry that you and your family are even having to think about these things.
I am glad the Sheriff’s office will not not let this go or fall off the radar. I want justice for Henry and for Knox County citizens. Good to know the mayor is in the loop also.
There must be an account of what led to Henry’s death. There is no way of knowing what the investigation will yield, but it must be conducted, thoroughly. I am grateful that we have highly skilled investigators on the case. We cannot allow certain groups to think they are beyond the law. We cannot let a brilliant, generous boy’s life to be wasted without answers. As a member of your community and Henry’s, and as a mother, I assure you that we will make sure Henry’s loss will not be lost in obscurity.
