so after that well thought out argument over the paintball (I read every word), did you give in?

i would like to be on the email list as this progresses. i also suggested to carl snow that instead of downloading “in lieu of flowers” for free, he could attach a cost to it with the funds donated sent to henry’s fund.

i’d be willing to write some grant proposals for you. i’ve only done it once for habitat for humanity, but i’m sure there’s not much difference. just let me know.

Katie, I’m sorry if this is a stupid question (or one that was already answered–I followed the links and didn’t think I saw this, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t there!), but to whom exactly should the checks be made out? I wasn’t quite sure of this.

I teach Grant Writing at a university here in Austin and would be happy to give you some direction when you get to that point. Most grant proposals follow a pretty standard format (problem/solution/cost); once you’ve done your first one you can cut and paste the rest. The first step is to research potential funders. Austin has a library devoted to foundations; your town may, too. If not, your local university reference librarian can point you in the right direction. If people are asking if there is anything they can do to help, doing some recon on this might prove very helpful down the line. Please don’t hesitate to find me through FB if you’d like any help.

While I cannot imagine that a gifted writer such as yourself would need much help, I have been writing grant proposals for my mother’s non-profit for years and can at least give you the names of some local foundations that may be interested in partnering with you on this project. Just let me know when you get to that point.
