E is starting his final week (4 weeks total) at sleepaway camp and he is still having an AWESOME time. When I called to tell him that G had arrived early, he told me that camp is “the best place I’ve ever been in the whole world, ever.” He also said he plans to work there when he grows up.

  1. I’m so glad E is having a great time and making lifelong friends and memories.

  2. While I’m sure there is a part of you that would love to have E under your wing, this must just make your heart sing to know he’s happy.

My youngest son DID eventually work at the same camp where he was a camper! One of his goals in junior high was to land a job so he could live there longer every summer. He’s in college now and still drives out there a few times each summer to see old friends, revisit some great memories and refresh his soul.

Hope E finds the same sort of happiness!

  3. He is pure boy! I’m happy he’s having so much fun.

  4. You have no idea how happy this makes me. Seeing Elliot at camp as a counselor would please my boys so much. He is following a long line of family at LMC. Lane and Harris went down to camp for a work weekend last spring. They spent the weekend working at camp for free, hanging out with old campers and counselors and loved every minute of it! I can’t wait to see Elliot and the boys talk Lookout Mountain Camp when they get together!

  5. I was a camper and then staff at my camp, many years ago. It’s still a font of good memories of my favorite place in the world. Every kid should go to camp!

  6. I can’t help but think of Lord of the Flies when you post pictures like this!
