Last night, E needed to be taken to the mall to buy some new gym shoes. Jon agreed to go with him, and I stayed home with G and J.

C was over at her Aunt Betsy’s after a long day at preschool followed by an evening of cousin-time with NC, so she was very tired and cranky by the time Jon was able to pick her up (Aunt Betsy’s house is between our house and the mall) and take E to shop for shoes.

The shopping excursion, made at an hour when C should have been getting into bed for the night, could have been a disaster, but E came up with a plan. He bribed his sleepy-cranky little sister, telling her that if she would fully cooperate with the shoe-shopping, he would watch a princess movie of her choosing on the iPad with her, in her princess canopy bed when they got home.

This offer was too good to refuse (usually E only wants to watch SportsCenter), so C bought in, and the shopping trip was successful.

Here are E and C at the mall together, with C attired in full-on princess regalia (if princesses wore their gowns inside out and favored bright green crocs over glass slippers)… He’s a good and very patient big brother.

  4. Elliot seems like a super-sweet boy. I love the pictures.

Last night Lorelei was tired and cranky and wanted to “sit with my Teddy” (Teddy being her 240 lb. 16 year old mean football playing big brother). I love to see how sweet he can be with her. I always wanted a big brother myself!

  5. Just have to say that I think E is the sweetest, bestest brother in the world. His patience and understanding of the little ones speaks to a level of maturity and compassion not found in most boys his age. Cheers to E!

  6. Its pretty incredible because she was REALLY, REALLY tired. E began the sale the minute he walked into my house.

  7. That is too sweet for words!

  8. Ah, East Town Mall! Do not miss that place at all.

  12. I swear there is nothing sweeter than the sight from behind of your own children walking and holding hands.

Only have a little longer on this, but when the 8 yo grabs his 20 yo and 17 yo brothers hands to walk, it is the cutest thing. Must remember to take a picture, because who knows how much longer he’ll do that!

  13. What a sweetie!!!

  16. Thank you for sharing those pics. They are so much fun. I’m sure that E now knows he is Henry to the little ones, and he looks like he’s going to go a grand job. Henry did a wonderful job being big brother to him and his older sis. You can see that in any one of his pics.
